About the Group

Born out of a collaboration of property management companies, we are Canada's only insurance purchasing group comprised of professional owners and managers of commercial real estate portfolios.

Our mission is to become Canada's lowest cost provider of insurance to the commercial real estate industry while at the same time supporting the development of the industry.

We operate as a managing general agency placing our participant's policies in British Columbia and Alberta with licenses pending in the Maritimes.


Group participants include property and asset managers, private investor portfolios and syndicates. Our participants are focused on pro-actively controlling and minimizing risk at each property by taking a hands on management approach.

The types of properties in the group span the industry and include office, retail, industrial, mixed-use and multi-family.

Our Story & Mission

The Real Estate Owners and Managers Insurance Group was formed through a collaboration of property management companies trying to find a more cost effective way to purchase insurance coverage for their client’s real estate portfolios.

Through joint review and collaboration of loss histories it was discovered that professionally managed real estate portfolios incur lower losses than typical commercial properties over a long period of time. When this discovery was brought to the attention of an insurance carrier they revealed that by working together as a collective industry group they would be able to provide discounts on technical premiums significantly below the rates provided to commercial properties purchased through standard insurance brokers.

With this knowledge the Real Estate Owners and Managers Insurance Group was formed with the mission of bringing together the professional real estate industry as a purchasing group to significantly reduce the cost of insurance for our participant's properties by minimizing commission costs and obtaining preferential underlying insurance rates.
